5th SeasonN.K. Jemisin creates an interesting fantasy world with a magic system you probably have not seen before. However, that alone is not enough to get it on my list. The fact is that N.K. Jemisin does all of this while also making fantastic use of the second person. It is rare enough to see the second person used at all, let alone to such great effect.

Cradle: UnsouledWill Wight's Cradle series is the definitive cultivation fantasy. Where most power progression goes wrong is that whenever a mountain is summited, we suddenly see a new one in the distance. However, Will Wight shows us that very most distance mountain in the first book, and everything else in the series is slowly building towards it. With each book it just gets better.
Also, read his other stuff. It is all good. |
Delve
This is not perfect. I think that the plot has some pacing issues, but it has its strong points. This is one of the only LitRPGs that I have read that really, really cares about the numbers. It spends a lot of time with the MC trying to figure out the underlying math of the systems, and there are a lot of blue boxes.

The Wander Inn
This is a web serial and the author write an enormous amount every week. 40,000 words plus enormous. The story is already over 7 million words. If you are looking for something LONG, you will like this.

Dungeon Crawler Carl
It took me awhile to read this. Something about the cover kept turning me off, but eventually I bit the bullet, and I am glad I did. It is hilarious with great characters.
